A couple of weeks ago I went cross country skiing for the 1st time. It was a week before my 56th birthday. I always wanted to try it so I finally did with my 13 and 10 year old urging me on. After 2 hours going up and down hills I came to the conclusion I was no spring chicken anymore when it came to doing new and fun stuff. I fell down about 30 times with the last one being on the ski pole which hurt my ribs. One time I thought I dislocated my shoulder.
Not wanting to physically impair myself from carrying out my duties as a waiter this probably was the last time. I thought I was pretty lame but I did survive and I wasn't aching too much afterwards. All except for my bruised ribs and ego.
But when I look back I did quite a few things. Two of which was bungee jumping in Phuket, Thailand and parasailing in Negril, Jamaica. You know it's true you have to do these things when you are young and not older at 56 for the 1st time.
Never put off till tomorrow what you have a chance to do today. Especially if it involves a thrill. The younger you do it the better your body will be able to handle it.
In my book, "You Only Live Once," I write about when I broke my wrist jumping off a swing in Germany.Yes it is true I did that! When you buy the book you will see how brave I was when it came time to setting the two bones back into place.
It is quite the chapter.
By the way, the caption on the bungee picture reads, "Fate Sides With Those That Dare."
See you Friday for the wine tasting!
